Abstract

Speech-language intervention in cluttering is a rarely subject explored in the literature. Aim: to verify the effectiveness of a therapeutic program existing and used in the institution to reduce and control the speech rate of clutterers by comparing the speech fluency in pre-and post-therapeutic program regarding to speech rate and frequency of disfluencies. Methods: Participants will be 5 adults who clutter of both genders in the age group between 18 and 59 years and 11 months. The diagnosis of cluttering will be performed by a speech therapist that had experience in the area. All participants should present an increase in the number of other disfluencies and rapid speech rate. The following procedures will be used: specific clinical history, fluency assessment and application of Predictive Cluttering Instrument (PCI) in pre-and post-therapeutic program (8 sessions). Analysis of the results: statistical analysis of data. Expected results: It is believed that in the post-therapeutic assessment the clutterers will present a lower speech rate, as well as a lower frequency of disfluencies when compared to the fluency assessment in pre-therapeutic program.
