Abstract

The effect of stress on HPI axis activation and gene expression (cytokines and stress genes) will be evaluated in blood, liver and spleen of fish. In the current work, we aim to compare the stress and immune outcomes after stress in rainbow trout (as fresh water model), and gilthead seabream (marine water model). At plasmatic level measurements will include cortisol, glucose and lactate. The gene expression pattern in spleen and liver will be also assessed using gene indicators of stress, immune response and metabolism. The experimental groups will include anoxia, vaccination and an anoxia plus vaccination in order to assess whether additive, synergic or suppressive changes are produced. (AU)
