Abstract Cerambycidae Latreille, 1802 is one of the most diverse families of beetles (Insecta, Coleoptera). The group is represented by eight subfamilies and among these, the subfamily Lamiinae Latreille, 1825 with about 20,000 described species is the most diverse. Some groups as tribes are not well-defined and lack a cladistic study as is the case of Aerenicini Lacordaire, 1872. The tribe is composed by 138 species in 26 genera and these species are registered only for the Neotropical region. Previous authors have raised biogeographics questions about the absence of species in some areas. The main objectives of the project are to perform a cladistic analysis of Aerenicini, in order to test the monophyly and the evolutionary relationship of its genera and of the tribe through morphological characters and to conduct a study on the prospect of the cladistic biogeography with the purpose of proposing hypotheses about the evolution of the group in the Neotropical region. The project will be the first in a Neotropical Lamiinae tribe with a cladistic and biogeographical approach and will contribute to future studies, mainly Biogeographic studies. (AU) | |
