Abstract

Adolescent victims of maltreatment may present damage to their social and affective development and the support network is essential to minimize the consequences of family separation. This support network varies according to the context (local, culture) and even changes over time. For these reasons, it is important to evaluate adolescents' perception of their support network so that more effective actions can be developed locally in order to contribute to the promotion of resilience and reintegration of this population in their community. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the network of social and affective support in a group of adolescents living in shelter, in particular, to assess the perceptions about the figures related to shelter. For that, 30 adolescents aged between 12 and 16 years old with a history of maltreatment will be evaluated in three group shelters - called Serviço de Acolhimento Institutional para Crianças e Adolescentes (SAICAs). The following instruments will be applied to assess the quality of the social support network and intensity of abuse: Map of the five fields, Brazilian version of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and semi-structured interview. The different types of perceived support and risk factors will be evaluated to promote the quality of the social and affective support network of the participants. The results will be analyzed by linear and logistic regression. The results of this study may help to improve the qualification of professionals who are part of the network of social and affective support of institutionalized adolescents and, eventually, help in the elaboration of public policies aimed at the quality of care of children to victimized adolescents.
