Abstract

This research aims to study the Mass of Santa Cecilia's Kyrie written by José Maurício Nunes Garcia in the perspective of hermeneutics and musical topics. Are there, in this Kyrie, discursive structures that point to the construction of an expressive meaning correlated to the cultural units and theological ideas involved in the sense of this mass, given by the context: the martyrdom of St. Cecilia?
