Abstract

The Research Internship at The City University of New York (CUNY) is part of a set of efforts that are being made to examine the subject of our doctoral dissertation in a refined way, with an interdisciplinary approach. With this Research Internship, we intend to improve the theoretical and methodological framework used in our current doctoral research project in Brazil, especially regarding the conceptualization of regional inequalities and the role of sectoral public policies and regional public policies in the dynamics of regional inequalities, considering different spatial and temporal contexts. Research Internship supervisor Cindi Katz can contribute a lot to reflections on the existing process of production of space at the core of sectoral public policies, a crucial aspect for our doctoral dissertation. Therefore, we hope this Research Internship will contribute to the consolidation of a broader and deeper view on the concept of regional inequalities and the role of sectoral public policies in the context of regional development.
