Abstract

The main objective of this research is to compare the development strategies adopted by the rulers of Brazil and Mexico. The comparison will focus on their economic policies and the respective performance of social indicators in the period of 2000 to 2013. In matter of fact, we will evaluate similarities and differences in the strategies and political-economic practices of the rulers with a liberal tone (Mexico) and another with a interventionist discourse (Brazil) in a favorable context in the international economic scenario (commodities boom) and in a period of financial crisis (post-2008).
