Abstract The donation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC), either through bone marrow or apheresis, is a common option for the treatment of onco-hematological diseases. Although it is considered a safe procedure, adverse reactions are expected. Considering the protection of the donors, the global trend is to register the adverse events in a database like the World Marrow Donor Association, Netherlands (WMDA) or the National Marrow Donor Program, Minnesota, USA (NMDP). Their aim is to inform medical professionals about possible adverse events with global implications. Through this data, it was possible to infer that the decrease in hemoglobin values, namely, the development of anemia after HPC donation through bone marrow or apheresis, is a common event. Thus, the objective of this project is to find the predictive factors for the development of anemia post-donation of HPC and, later, possibly, establish criteria for the selection of donors, collection techniques and post-procedure care, looking to improve the outcome for donors.
