Abstract

The use of the learning curve allows the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the number of repetitions, and the average time spent in each procedure. The aim of this study is to evaluate how many renal biopsies using laparoscopy procedure are needed to the technique become more safely and obtain samples with high quality. To attend the purpose of this research it will be used 5 cadavers dogs weighing less than 10 kg from the pathology service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of UNIFRAN. The cadaver will undergo laparoscopy guide followed by renal biopsy for collection of fragments and subsequent histopathological analyze. Statistical analysis will evaluate the interactions between the number of glomeruli in each repetition, the procedure time, the presence of artifacts and the presence of renal medulla using a mixed regression model with random effect of individual. This experiment will be enable to establish the learning curve for professionals who work in nephrology, videodiagnosis and related areas. (AU)
