Abstract

This research project investigates the great drought that occurred between 1791 and 1793 in the captaincies of Pernambuco and annexes. From a documentary analysis, the objective is to map the areas and agricultural products most affected, to understand the relations between Pernambuco and annexes with other producing areas in periods of scarcity, as well as to understand the implications of the long drought in the population. We are trying, above all, to create subsidies to better understand the influence of climatic variations on an agricultural economy of an exporting character, such as that of Portuguese America. (AU)
