Abstract

This research project presents a proposal for the development of work in the level of Scientific Initiation in the area of transient electromagnetic phenomena in transmission lines. The proposal is to develop in numerical routines Python numerical routines to simulate transient electromagnetic phenomena in transmission lines based on previous development carried out with the MatLab " application. Both the MatLab " application and other commercial mathematical applications are costly tools. On the other hand, the Python tool is a free computational tool of free license, facilitating the access of all the interested people and reducing costs in a research project. Also, as there are a large number of people who work with such a tool, its updating and incorporation of new numerical and programming tools is practically continuous. In other words, by taking advantage of this powerful free tool, numerical simulations of electromagnetic phenomena will be performed, analyzing whether it is possible to achieve similar or better performance than MatLab ", since several factors are different in both tools. An advantage of the Python environment is the possibility of optimizing the numerical routine without the need to acquire specific packages like MatLab ". (AU)
