Abstract

The present research's main focus of study is the Guanabara Railway Station, located in the city of Campinas - SP. This railway station is protected municipally by the Defense Council of Cultural Patrimony of Campinas (Condepaac). The main objective of the project is to identify the memories shared by the neighboring population concerning the station, with the purpose of finding potential cultural references to tourism. Our specific objectives are: register the nearby inhabitants' memories, identify and classify the protected and unprotected places referenced in the memory of those people; and finally, compile the results through a map. The methodology used will be the values-based heritage approach developed by Silberman and Labrador (2014), which has the principle of interpretation as a tool for intangible heritage. The methodological processes will be: semi-structured interviews with the neighboring population of the railway station, mapping, local tour, visual registration, review of the cultural heritage site registering process and bibliographic research. As a result of this study, a list of cultural references and a map of them shall be obtained. (AU)
