The Vida Odonto project is based on the development of a virtual reality environment for the training of students in anesthetics application, in order to improve skills acquisition and enable large-scale training, at low cost and at distance. The current automatic evaluation mechanism of VIDA Odonto is based on a simplified model, which is limited to the "entry point" and "angulation" parameters of the syringe (carpule), not capturing all the nuances of a procedure performed by a specialist. Using artificial intelligence techniques based on machine learning "by example", which captures and evaluates complex patterns with great efficiency, it is possible to improve the automation of the evaluation process of the procedures performed by the trainees. Thus, a promising solution is to develop an autonomous, real-time evaluator, enabling an immediate return on student training performance without the need for a specialist present. Therefore, this work proposes to develop and validate this evaluator through the use of artificial intelligence techniques. This work is associated with the regular FAPESP project (protocol 2016 / 26290-3), which has the partnership of the Faculty of Dentistry of Bauru (FOB / USP) and the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (FOUSP).
