Abstract

In this research project, we propose to investigate models to analyze the interference process in slotted/unslotted aloha channels. When possible, the models will be coherently adjusted to attain analytical tractability of the equations. Then, we shall have easily computable results and a better understanding of the system behavior. In the first part of the research, we will analyze the interference distribution in a test-packet of a channel that receives packets according to a Poisson process. In the second part, we will consider an unslotted aloha channel, which has transmitters with buffer using the channel concomitantly, i.e., a coupled queueing system. In the third part, we will consider a high-mobility slotted Aloha channel with N classes of users. Each user class has transmitters with buffers, it is also considered Rayleigh fading and path loss effects in the transmission. For this case, our work consist of improving an already established model, which assumes that the link distance between receiver and transmitter is constant. The improvement will be to consider a distribution for this distance. Furthermore, we also propose to explore the possibility to optimize the system performance when we perform band partition for a set of user classes. In this framework, the objective is to find the stability region, calculate the transmission delay and the outage probability. In the fourth and last part of the research, we will work with a model similar to the one from the third part. However, instead of assumig a high-mobility network, we shall investigate the stability and delay in a quasi-static network, which consists of a more realistic and complex approach. (AU)
