Abstract

The Power System State Estimation (PSSE) process has been the focus of several researches since the last years of the 1960 decade and nowadays it is already considered as a fundamental tool for the real time modeling of electrical networks. However, recent developments in the area (e.g. smart meters, synchronized phasor measurements, new electrical networks architectures with the capacity of autonomous operation, penetration of new renewable energy sources, and so forth) require evolutions in the PSSE process. This project aims to contribute to these evolutions via the establishment of a partnership between two research groups that have experience in the area, which will change knowledge, analyze problems and propose solutions, focusing in the following topics: (i) gross errors processing with the objective of the development of a state estimator with the characteristic of being resilient with respect to the occurrence of both gross errors and cybernetic attacks, and (ii) state estimation in distribution systems considering the presence of distributed generations (in both the medium and low voltage networks) and the new metering technologies.
