Abstract This project intends to carry out a research in several Portuguese (and also Macanese, as a complement) Libraries in order to identify Poems written in the Portuguese language, and their authors, in 10 newspapers published in Macau between 1863 and 1930. These documents can be found either in microfilm or in paper. The project also aims to gather bio-bibliographical elements regarding the unknown Poets who wrote them. We wish to clarify conditions of production and circulation of literary texts in this Portuguese colonial enclave and other obscure points as regards the origins of Macau Literature in Portuguese, presented by the critics mainly as a contemporary phenomenon. The Periodical Press, which has been published in Macau in large numbers since the early nineteenth century, and regularly sent to Portugal, may be a key to understand the origins of this literature, going back to a period that has been less studyed and sheding light on its Macanese (Macau-born), Portuguese and other agents. The result of this research will consist of three articles, accompanied by iconographic material and transcripts of the texts collected, and possibly also by other documents. (AU) | |
