Abstract

The accelerated process of environmental degradation has caused impacts on the landscape and has caused the loss of biological diversity, in this way it becomes necessary to reconcile the rational use of natural resources with the high demand resulting from a consumer society. Through this scenario emerges an activity that becomes increasingly widespread and practiced in the national territory ecological tourism, also called ecotourism. In view of the need to use natural resources in a sustainable manner, the present project aims to evaluate the ecotourism viability of the municipality of São João Batista do Glória (MG), by means of geoprocessing techniques, in order to safeguard the natural characteristics and guarantee the services and ecosystem functions. In order to do so, we will analyze and process the attributes related to the physical and biotic environment that allowed the elaboration of an Ecotourism Feasibility Chart in which it will be possible to measure the degree of suitability and classify the landscape in terms of tourism and recreation in the municipality.
