Abstract

Porcine circovirus 2 is the primary causal agent of several syndromes that are collectively designated circovirose in Brazil. Worldwide, this virus is responsible for huge economic losses and it is assumed that prevention is a key point in the fight against the losses triggered by PCV2. Prior to the development of vaccines against PCV2 control measures focused on minimizing and / or eliminating the risk factors involved in their progression. Currently, there are several commercial vaccines available, which some of them are commercialized Brazil since 2008. Studies in other countries have shown the vaccine conferred immunity against the two genotypes commonly found (PCV2b and PCV2a), drastically reduce mortality and increase the performance of PCV2-infected animals. This project aims to determine the impact of the introduction of three commercial vaccines in PCV2-positive swine herds. Eighty animals with 14 ± 2 days old will be selected, identified and distributed in one of four experimental groups (A, B, C, control). The vaccine will be administered at 21 ± 2 days of age and fecal samples will be collected one week before the vaccination (DPV-7), on the day of vaccination (DPV0), every 14 days until animals reached D56 and then, every 21 or 28 days (depend on the farm slaughter weight) until the end of the experiment. The samples will be submitted to the quantitative chain reaction by quantitative polymerase (qPCR) for PCV2a and PCV2b. (AU)
