Abstract

This research project consists of the continuation of the master's degree research that, during the general qualification exam, was indicated for the direct doctorate. Based on the study of the territorialization of Argentine, Brazilian and Uruguayan agribusiness in Paraguay, our objective is to analyze the new territorial dynamics created by the process of land foreignization, inserted in a broader process of land control. Our research hypothesis is that from the understanding of land control and foreignization as historical processes, the periods of control and foreignization of the land in Paraguay identified during the master's research are related to periods of accumulation of capital and food regimes (FRIEDMANN, 1987; FRIEDMANN and MCMICHAEL, 1989; MCMICHAEL 1994 and 2009), that is, inserted in the world system, which means that each period has new territorial dynamics, through a local-global relationship. The new element present in the current period is financial capital, which emerges from the convergence of multiple crises - environmental, food, energy and financial, which simultaneously generates a marked interest in land for agricultural production and speculation.
