Abstract

The main objective of the research is to make a complete listing of all the books published in Angola that were the subject of Salazar censorship. Besides this aspect, and as a result of the examination of the material researched, it will be sought to determine the books that were probably read by its intellectuals (despite the limitations of censorship, since booksellers anticipated it and, "under the counters ", sold the publications before they were collected), and from the collected material, make a chart of bookstores and / or places where books were sold in the African localities.The proposal, established in the field of intersection between Literature and History, tries to illuminate the relation between Literature and Portuguese Colonial Empire from the study on the censorship existing in the Portuguese colonies in the African continent in the period between 1933 and 1975, trying to verify which books published and seized in Angola (that is, the titles published in Portugal that, even censored there arrived and the published books that could not circulate because of the veto of Censura or that were amputated by cuts). The title chosen, which refers to the blue pencil used by the censors when making cuts in the texts submitted to them, has as a mark the years of 1933, when censorship was instituted in Portugal, with the creation of the Secretariat of National Propaganda - SPN, and 1975, the year of the national independence of the African territories
