Abstract This research project discusses Anna Bella Geiger (1933), Anna Maria Maiolno (1942) and Lygia Pape' (1927- 2004) poetics. This research´s general interest is to map the three artists' works, analyzing them from the intersection between contemporary aesthetic practices and production of urban space, in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, during the Brazilian civil-military regime. This mapping will be made along three axes directly linked with contemporary aesthetic practices: the relation between body production and cities production that are established around these pracics; the possibilities to elaborate a critical attitude involving urban space production; the transformations that these practices operate to the viewer´s place and their effects in public space construction. This research considers the hypothesis that Geinger, Maiolino, and Pape a esthetical practices produce opening in the repressive process that occurs in visual art production and urban space structuration in the country. Theoretically and methodologically this research will be oriented by post structuralist studies, particularly Michel Foucault ones, aiming to comprehend the situation of their poetics around discursive practices that constitutes urban space.
