Abstract

From the development of this project it is intended: a) to evaluate the relationship of minerals kaolinite (Kt) and gibbsite (Gb) clay fraction quantified by Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS), in stocks of C, P, and C isotopes of soils of the Western Paulista Plateau; b) predict stocks of C and P, from the Ct and Gb, minerals in clay fraction, estimated by ERD in soils of the Western Paulista Plateau; c) map specific management areas of the Western Paulista Plateau based on estimates of the stock of C, P, and C isotopes. maintains, therefore the hypothesis that it is possible to estimate stocks of C and P and C isotopes by means of minerals Kt and Gb and that this knowledge will allow the elaboration of maps, that will assist in defining specific management areas for reduction in loss of C and reduction of the irrational use of phosphate fertilisers respectively, and to the knowledge of the origin and dating of the isotopes of C to the different geological, geomorphological and land enclosures of the Western Paulista Plateau. The study area is the Western Paulista Plateau that occupies about 13 million ha. Will be collected 600 samples for physical, mineralogical analyses and spectral. Shall be assessed: the stocks of C and P, and C isotopes, based on the distribution of minerals Ct and Gb for the different compartments of the plateau. All data will be submitted to statistical analysis and geoestatistics. The results obtained allow to obtain reference values of C and P stock, based on mineralogical composition of soil, allowing aid in planning for management and conservation of the soil, from maps made with quantified attributes by indirect methods.
