Abstract

The Western Paulista Plateau is one of the main areas of citrus cultivation in the country, representing approximately 80% of the national production and participation in the production of sugar and ethanol. The mineralogical characterization and quantification of the soils of the region becomes important for a better understanding of pedogenic soil processes and use of best management practices. Through tools such as geostatistics you can understand the relationship between the mineralogy of the soil and landscape, indicating the spatial variability of the data and the spatial dependence between pedogenic attributes and geomorphic the region. Thus, this project aims to: a) characterize and quantify kaolinite and gibbsite minerals through indirect practices; b) evaluate space variability these minerals with the geomorphometric map; and (c) to assess the relationship of these minerals with the aggregate stability in the Western Paulista Plateau. Georeferenced soil samples will be collected to quantify kaolinite and gibbsite and its crystallographic data. The samples will be analyzed by x-ray diffractometry, termodiferencial analysis, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and x-ray fluorescence. Afterwards, will be performed the study of spatial variability of mineralogical attributes, relating the datas with geomorphometric map, by means of statistical analysis and geostatistics, with the aggregate stability. It is expected that the results indicate an indirect methodology to quantification and characterization of kaolinite and gibbsite minerals, in order to understand pedogenic soil processes of the Western Paulista Plateau.
