Abstract

In our current research we aim to investigate the concept of atopia as the non indentitarian way of belonging to the world. To begin with we intend to delimit, based on questions raised by Renaud Barbaras, the importance of the notion of belonging as it relates to the "question of the subject" in the theoretical field of phenomenology. Based on this question we will then seek to demonstrate how a new way of interpreting the subject in Sartre, a result of our Doctoral research, finally revealsthe atopia as a way of belonging to the world and how this result invites a debate around the concept of the subject as movement in Barbaras. According to this author the problem with sartrean philosophy consists exactly of the impossibility of considering the self as belonging to the world. Thus, if in our thesis we confront what we identify as a dominant interpretation of Sartre's thinking - characterized by a dualist interpretation - by identifying a special type of belonging that could overcome this problem, it now becomes necessary to demonstrate not only that there are methods to solve it, but also how these results can open up the field of investigation to new methods of pondering the question. We therefore, inspired by some considerations on Socrates' atopia, seek toshow how the impossibility of localization and classification of the "atopic" subject in "identitarian zones" allows the understanding of the notion of identity as a type of "place" (topos). To achieve this we will return to the sartrean ideas of the subject as scape from contingency and search for identity as a means of considering the relationship between belonging and identity. (AU)
