Abstract

The virtual environment can be used to study human anatomy, as a visualization tool from which is possible to understand the behavior of some part of the human body. This project intends to put a human heart model working in a virtual environment with the possibility to fragment their main parts, keeping the fragments moving. The measurements of the movement of the heart during a cardiac cycle will be obtained from echocardiogram exams and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. Those measurements will be applied in a three-dimensional virtual heart using interpolation techniques to morph the parts of the heart. Besides, a virtual environment will be developed, including some interaction options. The extracted measures from virtual heart model motion will be compared and adjusted to those iteratively provided by echocardiography (physiological reference) in order to adjust and validate the simulation. It is expected that the virtual environment to be developed make possible the three-dimensional visualization and the manipulation by parts, of a virtual heart with the simulated movement according to anatomical features obtained from echocardiogram and timing obtained from the ECG.
