Abstract

The spider crab Libinia ferreirae (Majoidea) keeps interspecific relationships that vary throughout ontogeny, megalopae and juvenile can have associated with jellyfish Scyphozoa and when adult can "host" innumerable epibionts as sea anemones. However, it is unknown how L. ferreirae interacts ecologically to be in ecosystem and how it is faced with the exploitation of trawling as bycatch. The object this project is described the interactions in trophic web of organisms collected by trawling, as well as, the interspecific ecological relationships of L. ferreirae, during different development stages. The study region is Cananéia-SP, the ecosystem of high ecological importance named World Heritage by the UNESCO in 1999. Isotopic analyses ´13C and ´15N will be applied to trace the trophic position of the animals, as well as, type of ecological interaction, measured from muscle tissue, and the gut content of L. ferreirae, of all organisms obtained in the trawling. The trophic level of individuals collected in trawling and how they may be interrelating, will be investigated with package SIAR (software R), that can demonstrate if L. ferreirae is being feeding their jellyfish host or planktonic prey, when symbiont, and if using their symbionts as food source when host the sea anemones. It is noteworthy that is the first study to analyze abroad aspect of biological interactions and trophic relationships of L. ferreirae. (AU)
