Abstract The use of preserved foods, including silage, dates from the beginning of the last century, when the goal was to guarantee food for animals during times of pasture shortage. Currently, silage is no longer considered an alternative food and has become necessary to reach high levels of productivity. The silage can be made from any fodder, provided that some prerequisites are respected, in order to ensure a good silage fermentative process. Although not yet widespread, legume silage has attracted interest from researchers worldwide. Soybean (Glycine maxx L. Merril), because of your high concentrations of protein, energy and potentially digestible fiber, in addition to your management consolidation in all regions of the country, is an interesting crop for ruminant nutrition. In the literature there are studies with information about the potential of using whole soybean silage (cultivars, harvesting point and bromatological composition) in ruminant feed, however, few studies have been done to evaluate its effect on animal performance and the results are still low consistent. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of dried molasses and microbial inoculant associated to different harvesting points of the soybean crop for silage production. The hypothesis of the study is that the inclusion of chemical and biological additives can improve the fermentative quality of the whole soybean silage, regardless of the harvest point. (AU) | |
