Abstract

Anxiety Disorders are the clinical pictures that most often appear in our society. Among them, Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is the most common and will be the object of study of this work. TAS affects individuals from their infancy and compromises a series of social, academic and professional activities, making it difficult to establish interpersonal relationships. The most commonly used treatment is Behavioral Cognitive Therapy (CBT) combined with drug use. However, some studies point out that such interventions focus on the topography of behaviors, rather than considering their function. The objective of this study is to analyze Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) as an alternative intervention for the treatment of individuals with SAD, in addition to considering the therapeutic relationship as a process of change, which is very important in cases of anxiety. For this study, a therapist-researcher and three adult clients will participate. The procedure used will be the single-case, multiple-baseline experimental design. During the baseline, the case will be conceptualized through the Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAPRS) categorization system. In addition, other instruments will be used to assess the severity of the client's symptoms, such as the Outcome Questionnaire (OQ-45), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), during the interventive process and in the final phase of Follow-up.
