The production of the housing verticalized by the Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida in the city of Ribeirão Preto: agents, intentionality

Abstract

In research already developed in the years 2016-2017, funded by the PIBIC/Cinqs Program, which mapped all the projects of the Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida in 21 cities in the State of São Paulo, we obtained results that today constitute starting points for the present project. Through the results obtained in these surveys, it was possible to observe some spatial patterns that help to explain the said Program: in Tier 1 projects (intended for families with lower incomes) a typology of horizontal buildings is observed, consuming extensive urban lands, in peripheral and precarious from the social point of view and economic areas; the projects 2 and 3 (band 2: for families with incomes of up to 3,600 R $ and band 3 for families with incomes of up to 6,500 R $) present a greater number of vertical typologies and with better locations in urban space. However, it did not go unnoticed that in the city of Ribeirão Preto - SP, in spite of the concentration of the enterprises lane 1 in the north and northwest part of the city, historically characterized by its occupation by low income families and with a strong concentration of housing developments interest, the predominant typology is vertical. Thus, the main objective of this project is to analyze this option by the verticalization and intentionality of the agents that control it, understanding it as a specific process of production of the city that, by intensifying the use of the soil and altering densities in specific points of the city, changes patterns of population occupancy and distribution in the present and future.
