Abstract

The spread of chaos, dyed by urban violence, horrible living conditions and low access to public services in the metropolitan region of São Paulo during the last years of the 70 and the decades that came about, brouth, among other feelings, fear, anger and revolt to a portion of the impoverished youth. Restless with these emotions and stimulated by the emergent punk culture, these young guys rambled and sang about that city alleys. Thus, this research project aims to study the narratives about the metropolitan region of São Paulo produced by agents involved in the punk scene. My intention is to understand the emotion involved in punk music production and, using this sensibility, to discuss how those feelings express a specific cartography of the city of São Paulo. The musical performances depicted in the punk universe show that a part of the popular classes youth - some members the bands "Cólera", "Ratos de Porão", "Inocentes", "Garotos Podres", "Mercenárias", among others I will study in this research - announce themselves skeptics about the expectatives of the Brazilian society, because, as their compositions express, they were living an uncomfortable life in a "trash city". To comprehend this problems involving those feelings, I will guide me through the recorded songs in punk collections and Long Plays from 5 musical groups. I will not, however, lose sight of others evidences like: fanzines, video and images of shows, documentaries, newspapers articles and magazines, books and others research sources that recall this manifestation. Therefore, I want to study, going through this musical performances, the feelings in metropolis and the way this emotions contribute to the narrative - dyed by hate and revolt - about the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
