Abstract

In this research project abroad, we intend to deepen our study, already underway, with the discussion of themes related to the production of portraits of Portuguese artists (painters and sculptors), the artistic and cultural exchange between them and the relationships maintained by Brazilian and Portuguese painters. One can note the dialogue between artists from Portugal and Brazil, divulged in recent years in exhibitions and in bibliography to be consulted in loco, and the subject of the portrait in the studio that was present in a forceful way among the pairs. This research will be guided mainly by the discussions about the artist's representation in his work environment and other issues, such as the homage and sociability existing in the space of the artist's studio, which possibly reflected in the works of artists portrayed by others, the which were produced throughout the 19th century and early 20th century.
