Abstract

It is known that the musical practice stimulates auditory aspects and that its training can provide neural adaptations that improve perceptual-auditory responses. In addition, since it is related to brain plasticity, this improvement can be generalized to cognitive and language-related aspects. Therefore, the present study aims to characterize, using behavioral tests of the Central Auditory Processing, the auditory skills of individuals with and without formal musical learning without therapeutic purpose. The procedures used for the evaluation and characterization of the auditory abilities of the sample will be Scale of Auditory Behaviors (SAB), Duration Pattern Test (TPD), Staggered Spondaic Word Test (SSW), Masking Level Difference (MLD), and Dichotic Consonant-Vowel Test (TDCV) - Free Recall conditions. The results will be analyzed using statistical procedures and the data of each test will be compared between the groups and between the individuals of each group.
