Abstract

The number of people in cities has been increasing significantly in the last years. Therefore, the great movement of people and goods in cities strongly contributes to environment pollution, in particular, due to the CO2 emission. Thus, a challenge of urban logistics is the sustainable coexistence between city development and vehicle freights. Our research objective is to develop mathematical models to deal with the electrical vehicle routing problem. As one of the highest costs of electric vehicles is related to the maintenance of their batteries, we focus on the prolongation of their battery lives This problem is difficult to solve for real-sized instances and, therefore, in the second stage of the work, we will propose an heuristic method to solve the problem.
