Abstract

The proposed work plan is centered on the development of a research project that aims to analyze the narratives about mobility produced and shared in digital media spaces by Brazilians who migrated to Barcelona (Catalonia - Spain) from 2014 onwards, in order to identify, in these narratives, the linkages between their migratory experiences and the current scenarios of Brazilian and Catalan/Spanish political and economic crisis in the reconfiguration of their (trans)national imaginaries about Brazil-Spain/Catalonia as contexts of emigration/immigration. The qualitative methodology is constituted of three procedures: (1) bibliographic and documentary research, (2) mapping, observation and collection of a set of narratives produced and shared on the social network platform Facebook by Brazilian immigrants who, from 2014, emigrated to Barcelona, and (3) four semi-directed interviews with active administrators and/or participants of Facebook groups and profiles. The theoretical framework covers the interfaces between communication, digital media and transnational migrations. In addition to the development of the research, the work plan, to be developed at the Institute of Communication of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), also includes a teaching seminar "Methods of Research in Communication and Consumption: Latin American perspectives", to be taught under the discipline Methods of Research in Communication in the Audiovisual Communication Undergraduate course at UAB; work meetings for the preparation of an international research project; visits to organizations and migratory collectives that develop projects with media; publication of academic article and elaboration of final report of the research.
