Extension activities of teachers of the occupational therapy course at UFSCar: evaluation of managers on the projects carried out

Abstract

The university extension plays an extremely important role in the communication between university and community. The projects of university extension are part of the functions performed by the professors of the course of occupational therapy offered by the Federal University of São Carlos. The city of São Carlos is the main stage of activities of the extension activities developed by the course, benefiting from projects in several areas beyond health. In this way, this project aims to investigate the evaluation that managers of public services do of the extension activities developed by professors of the course of occupational therapy. Service managers (directors, coordinators, or heads of sectors / departments), where extension projects are promoted, will be invited to contribute to the research by responding to a semi-structured interview that addresses points about the contribution of university extension in these services. In addition, the extension activities linked to the Department of Occupational Therapy registered in the ProexWeb system in the year 2017 and 2018 will be researched in order to contribute to the maintenance of the collection created in 2015. The analysis of the interview data will be through analysis of content. The data from ProexWeb will go through simple statistics generating graphs, tables and percentages. This study is expected to provide information on how the university extension has acted in the reality of the services of the municipality and what the contribution of these projects in meeting the demands of the local reality. Finally, it is expected that the results of this study may contribute to the future construction of indicators of effectiveness of extension activities and extension policy. (AU)
