Abstract

When librarians can not be sure how to operate in hybrid environments, they can manage these institutions focusing their activities only on the technological aspects of information, rather than emphasizing the cultural sphere and social inclusion of the community. Therefore, the research problem is related to how the design of a hybrid library concept can contribute to the proper functioning of its structures. The objective is to contribute to the discussions about the concepts of hybrid libraries, in order to integrate a conception of institutions that can be inserted into the social development of different communities. Thus, it is proposed to raise discussions of specialists, librarians and institutions working with the concept of hybrid libraries, analyze them and, from there, define the basic characteristics for a concept of hybridity in libraries. The research is qualitative, descriptive and exploratory. As a method of analyzing the passage between the data extraction and the construction of conceptual representations coming from the systematic data collect of experts, it is suggested the application of the Delphi Method. To create a concept that can be adapted to different communities, the Grounded Theory Method fits the study of the properties of the concept of hybridity in libraries. This project seeks to clarify the impact of these libraries on the applicability of a broader and more perceptible concept to the individuals participating in this process. From this perspective, it is necessary to understand how the concept of hybridity influences the professional actions in libraries and the social development of the users. It is about discussing the different views about the concept of hybridity and contextualizing it in libraries. (AU)
