Abstract

Conditional expression systems based of controlled protein degradation allow fast control over the expression of the gene of interest. Our previous results indicate that the fusion of a DDD, an E. coli dhfr based destabilization domain, with the FKBP derived DD more efficiently degrades the protein of interest. The aims are to confirm these results, to apply the system towards the investigation of P. falciparum essential genes and evaluate the applicability on a quick detection of toxic effects of potential antimalarials.
