Abstract

In the world scenario the coffee culture is among the most commercialized and profitable products representing a source of income for several countries. The species Coffea arabica L. stands out in the coffee industry of Brazil, having great importance for the economy in the contribution as a positive agent in the Brazilian trade balance. In view of this economic importance, the objective is to evaluate the behavior of 12 coffee cultivars Coffea arabica in the Ribeira Paulista Valley, together with good agronomic characteristics, in order to generate information that contribute to the technical recommendation of these cultivars for the region. The experiment will be installed in March 2018, at the Experimental Campus of the Paulista State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" - UNESP, in Registro - SP, spacing 3.00 x 0.60m. The experimental design will be randomized blocks with three replications and plots of eight plants, with only six plants being considered as a useful plot. The characteristics of stem diameter, number of plagiotropic branches, height of plants, number of nodes of plagiotropic branches, length of plagiotropic branch, crown diameter, vegetative vigor, incidence of cercosporiosis in leaves of coffee trees, incidence and severity of rust, incidence of leafminer on leaves of coffee trees, leaf area index, leaf area, green matter mass, dry matter mass and specific foliar mass. Statistical analyzes will be performed using the Sisvar software (Ferreira 2000). Genotypic and phenotypic correlations between all the characteristics evaluated will also be estimated, using the Selegen-REML / BLUP program (Resende, 2007). The mean data of the evaluated characteristics will be submitted to analysis of variance by the F test and the means compared by the Skott Knott test at 5% probability. (AU)
