Abstract

Obesity has acquired epidemic proportions in the last decades, which has resulted in the development of several studies in order to understand its influence on comorbidities found in the population. However, the mechanisms that correlate Obesity and its comorbidities are not fully elucidated, although, it is already clear that changes in tissues such as skeletal muscle and adipose tissue are of great importance, such as the alteration of adipokines and myokines production. Adipokines and myokines are molecules produced, respectively, by adipose tissue and skeletal muscle that may have autocrine, paracrine or endocrine action and studies show that the production and secretion of many adipokines and myokines that are altered with Obesity can be regulated by physical exercise, a non-pharmacological strategy used as a form of treatment of Obesity. However, as physical exercise can exert influence on the crosstalk between skeletal muscle and adipose tissue, it is a field of study that has not yet been fully explored. It has recently been shown that exosomal microRNAs derived from adipose tissue may have action in the regulation of liver gene expression, which raised the possibility of such phenomenon not being restricted only to adipose tissue and liver interaction. Therefore, the objective of this project is to evaluate in animal model treated with high-fat diet and exposed to physical exercise if exosomal microRNAs produced in the skeletal muscle can have action in the regulation of the gene expression of adipokines produced in the adipose tissue and vice versa and as such phenomenon would be involved in ameliorating Obesity.
