Abstract

Bivalves are benthic animals used for the study of paleoautoecology due to their abundance in the geological record, their direct relation with the sedimentation rate and the presence of calcareous shells that facilitate preservation in the fossil record. Thus, they are important tools for the understanding of the depositional environment of the associated sedimentary packages and the environment of life of this group. The Solimões Formation is presented by several lithologies, being most aedimentary rocks as; Murdock with conceptions of carbonate and gipsíferas, and with scattered concentrations of pyrite; the number of fossils is very significant, showing a great verity of vertebrates and invertebrates. The studies related to the morphology of mollusks (bivalves and gastropods) for paleoautoecological studies are rares. In this way, this work aims to classify and describe the morphology of bivalve and gastropod samples of the Solimões Formation deposited in the scientific collection of the Paleontology Laboratory of the Federal University of Acre, Rio Branco.
