Abstract

Pesticides are used to combat pests and ensure the quality of products for a longer period of time possible. Among the most commonly used pesticides in Brazil are carbamates. Carbamate propoxur was introduced as a non-systemic fast acting insecticide, used primarily against fleas and domestic pests. The official method that is used for the extraction and quantification of this substance is onerous, time-consuming and uses large amounts of organic solvents. The present project is focused on the development of a clean and sensitive analytical procedure for the extraction and quantification of propoxur in beef samples. For this, different clean procedures of extraction, pre-concentration in cloud point and spectrophotometric detection will be evaluated. (AU)
