After the civil-military coup of 1964, institutions involved with politics and cultural production suffered interventions that were decisive for their disarticulation. In this scenary, intellectuals belonged to these institutions or that gravitated around them, were dispersed, losing spaces of representation. An intellectual field formed up until that date went through a reconstruction from the growth of a market structure that was rapidly developed. The participation of some intellectuals in this formation of na after-coup intellectual field is not well known, making it difficult to understand how this process really happened. Otto Maria Carpeaux is one of these intellectuals who positioned himself against the regime through the legitimacy and visibility consisted of newspapers and magazines that formed a cultural market receptive to left contents. Analyzing the intellectual itineraries of Carpeaux in its transition from the great press to the alternative press and the consolidated memories of its performance in the resistances will allow us to determine the social position assumed by the author, just like his contributions to cultural resistances, social thinking and intellectual field in after-coup Brazil.
