Abstract

The present research aims to investigate the Hegelian conception of Concept (Begriff) in the Science of Logic. It is a question of understanding Hegel's speculative dialectics as an answer to the problems posed by critical philosophy in the context of the post-Kantian German debate. In order to do so, we will try to understand the problems that Hegel tried to overcome through his theory of the Concept in the Science of Logic, in which he explicitly restates elements of classical logic (types of concepts, syllogisms and judgments), and in what sense we must understand the speculative identity between being and thought. We will take as a starting point the Hegelian assumption of the unity of apperception as the ground of the concept and his critique of the rigid opposition between conceptual mediation and sensible immediacy in Kant's Critique of Pure Reason to understand the ruptures and continuities with the critical project and to evaluate the meaning of his criticisms and reformulations of the traditional metaphysics. Finally, we will try to establish the relation between reflection, contradiction and subject in the Science of Logic in order to apprehend the originality of the Hegelian conception of concept. (AU)
