Abstract

The genetic evaluation of the buffalo herd from Agribusiness Technology Agency (Apta regional / Vale do Ribeira) will be carried out by estimating genetic parameters for average milk production. 799 records with identification of the animals, parents' names and their registration numbers, date of birth, number of deliveries carried out over the years, year of registration, date of last delivery, numbering contained in the earring, and average milk production during the lactation period are included in the database that will be used. Initially a variance analysis will be performed including all environmental variables and their interactions to constitute the contemporary groups (CG) that will be included in the genetic evaluation model as fixed effect. A unicarater analysis will be performed to estimate the components of variance and the genetic value of the animals for milk production according to an Animal Model considering the fixed effect of contemporary groups and random genetic additive. Bayesian procedures will be performed, by Gibbs chain, using the MTGSAM computational system. The heritability will be calculated using the additive genetic variance and the phenotypic variance and with the genetic values of the animals will be carried out a regression study according to the generations in order to verify the genetic trends of the herd over the years.
