Abstract

The goal is analyze mechanical properties of the steel AISI 1045 after intensive quenching using as quenchant: nanofluids (SiO2 e ZnO2) and saline solutions (NaNO2 e NaHCO3). It will be performed tests of tensile strength, residual stress and fracture toughness. For toughness it will be used an alternative method used by IMT, Slovenia which is made with tensile strength test and notched cylindrical sample. Metallographic studies will complement the analyses.
