Abstract This research project aims at investigating the problem of culture in the philosophy of the young Nietzsche, taking into account its articulation, at the one hand, with his ideas about the human being, and on the other hand, with his thinking about society. At this study, the analysis of The birth of Tragedy" will play a central role. That work will be considerated under a double point of view: firstly, concerning its thesis regarding ancient greek culture´s History, and secondly, concerning its meaning regarding the historical and political moment lived by Germany at the time of its elaboration. At the first perspective, issues like the historical production of the genius, the becoming and function of State and the problem of slavery will be discussed and related to Nietzsche´s presentation of greek culture´s development and to the actuation of apolinean and dionisiac impulses. At the second perspective, I will try to comprehend the meaning of Nietzsche´s commitment to the wagnerian project of refounding german culture at the light of the german social and political situation at that time, and considering the philosopher´s ideas concerning the possible rebirth of the tragical personality. At that context, Nietzsche´s positions about the so called social question (Soziale Frage) and the revolutionary agitations to which it gave occasion will be examined. Finaly, the project includes also an attempt to link the two perspectives, trying to discover possible theoretical and practical relations between Nietzsche´s positions concerning ancient Greece and modern Germany. | |
