Analysis of level of stress and anxiety in infantile patients submitted to anesthesia by eletroestimulation at acupuncture points

Abstract

In order to evaluate the influence of anesthesia by electrostimulation at acupuncture points on the levels of stress and anxiety in patients submitted to restorative procedures in Pediatric Dentistry, restorative procedures will be performed in 25 children with caries lesions with medium depth cavitation in lower teeth . Each side will be anesthetized in a way (conventional and through electrostimulation). For analysis of stress and anxiety will be used saliva collection methods for quantification of cortisol and cromogranin A, pulse measurement and blood pressure, in addition to the use of the EVA scale. The relevance of the project is to seek alternative means of analgesia for patients with needle phobia, reducing anxiety, stress and, consequently, the level of medical emergencies in the dental office.
