Abstract

This research is about the case study of the city of Monte Mor, a small city in the Metropolitan Campinas Region. From this research, will be analyzed the spatial interactions with the other cities of the metropolitan region and some of their particular characteristics, especially those related to the processes of urban expansion and industrial development, that means, analyze the particularity of a small city in metropolitan region. The city presents peculiarities in its urban area possibly linked to the influence of the nearby road system, which counts with the installation of several industries and is close to the axes of the Anhanguera, Bandeirantes, Santos Dummont and Dom Pedro I highways. The methodological procedures include a bibliographical survey and documents, interviews with well-informed agents, fieldwork and elaboration of cartographic material. Among the expected results, we seek to contribute to the characterization of the concept of small cities by distinguishing their specificities in the metropolitan region.
