Abstract

This research proposal aims to describe the main activities to be undertaken during my internship abroad. The main objective is to contribute theoretically and methodologically to the development of my post-doctoral research, funded by FAPESP. The main contributions will be to analyze the material collected during my post-doctoral studies in Brazil, relating it to the bibliography on public health policies and USA and European history of medicine and sexuality. The analysis will focus specifically on the controversies surrounding pathologization of the access to sex and body transformation through medical procedures and the recent attempts of de-pathologization. In order to make this a reality, I propose that the internship take place at University College of London, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jonathan Bell, specialist in USA political history at the interface of public policy, gender, sexuality, and health.
