Abstract

In this study we propose to apply statistical modelling to study the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the spatial distribution of insect pest species that attack perennial crops. Particularly, fruit-fly data are going to be used as a model species due to their economic importance as pest of several fruits and to the availability of data. For these species, there exist several datasets of abundance in all fruit production regions in the State of Espírito Santo, characterized as an extensive time series. The dataset, unpublished, are weekly collection in plantations like mango, papaya, guava, among others using baited traps and in fruits, which were taken to laboratory and the insects emerged identified and counted, including parasitoid species. Applying Hierarchical Modelling of Species Communities will be disentangled the effects of the environmental conditions, species traits (biological characteristics), species phylogenetic relation and time of sampling on the spatial distribution and species co-occurrence in the entire state.
